Dreambert and Bedsmith, two Pi’illo creatures, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in an unfamiliar house in an unfamiliar city, feeling lost and confused. Just as panic sets in, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He assumes they must have passed out while watching television the night before, but before he can explain further, the situation gets even stranger. A Star Sprite creature named Starlow arrives, insisting that she is their friend. She says they had plans to go out, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of her or any such plans. They reluctantly follow Starlow outside, unsure of their surroundings. They wander around the city, acting as if they do not recognize either their surroundings or Starlow. Despite their confusion, Starlow continues to interact with them as if they have been friends for a long time. As she leads them apart, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and their names, trying to calm them down. Dreambert and Bedsmith, however, remain disoriented and unable to make sense of their past or their relationship with Starlow. As the day progresses, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned, initially thinking that they are simply pretending to forget. But as their strange behavior continues, she begins to worry that something is wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens, and she wonders if there is something more behind their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house, where they awaken for the first time, and Wonky, who still claims to be their father, provides them with a bed that seems unfamiliar to them. Too tired and confused to protest, they settle in for the night. As they fall asleep, their minds are filled with questions about their identities, their pasts, and the cause of their sudden amnesia. The mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered as they drift into a restless sleep, unsure of what the future holds.
